Just One Tip for the New Year: Scissor Storage

Hello, it’s Suzanne here today with scissor storage ideas for our Just One Tip for the New Year series this month. If you are like me, you have a lot of scissors! When I first started paper crafting, I wanted to collect all of the decorative scissors that I could find. I began scrapbooking in the late 90’s when cutting your pictures into decorative shapes was all the rage, and amassed a collection of scissors in the process. I’ll show you some of my scissor storage later on, but first let’s see how other people around the web are storing their collections.

Rod and Hook Storage

I would recognize that rod and those hooks anywhere… they are from IKEA. I always find IKEA to be an attractive and affordable option for my craft supplies as well.

Magnetic Storage

By adding a magnetic strip to your wall, desk, or other easily accessible area, you can create a great place to store your scissors!

Pegboard Storage

And finally, here is my decorative scissor storage (regular scissors are in a different area) housed on the pegboard that I made last year. Most of the pairs are layered 2-deep, which makes for a lot of scissors!

  1. Great ideas, I really like your pegboard, it’s very functional and pretty. I have some of the scissors and have heard that the decorative scissors may be making a ‘come back’ this year. Regardless, they’re still fun to use.

  2. Suzanne,

Love your pegboard! Did you paint the frame that color or did it come that way? I’ve got a big pegboard in my craft room and now I want to frame it! 😉

  3. What wonderful ideas for storing all those scissors. Your pegboard it absolutely gorgeous and looks like it really holds a lot of tools ready at your fingertips!

  4. GREAT ideas! I sew and therefore have lots of scissors – think I’ll try out one of your solutions. Thanks for sharing with us.

  5. Love your pegboard and the frame! I pinned it to my personal collection and this idea might make it into my new craft room! I was fortunate that when I bought my decorative scissor collection (probably one of the first supplies I actually purchased) it was from Costco and came with a carousel for storing them. Only problem is I just don’t use them anymore, but the hoarder in me can’t let them go.
