Laurel’s room is a dream come true. It’s uncluttered and organized. It’s functional and you can see that she has really planned the pieces she uses to fit the needs that she has for the supplies she has on hand. She uses great pieces from Ikea and she labels everything!
Laurel recently took a trip to a local Ikea and picked up a few pieces to add to her craft space. The best advice she gives us is that when you reorganize, you first have to purge! Isn’t this the most difficult part of organizing for a crafter? We just don’t want to part with our stuff! Laurel purges and uses the half of the proceeds that she gets to donate to her favorite charity! I love this idea! You sell your stuff to someone who might actually use it and you donate the proceeds to a worthy cause! What better incentive to purge when your goodies are helping support a good cause?
I selected a few of my favorite pictures from Laurel’s craft room to share with you. You can view all of her photos on her blog craft room tour. Laurel includes links to all of the storage items that she has from Ikea on her blog as well. You can see those here.
In the first photo, you will see that she uses several small pretty containers to hold craft supplies that she has artfully arranged on a wall in her craft space. I love that this is not only functional, but it is beautiful! What better way is there to decorate your craft room than by using your craft supplies and projects!
Laurel uses an Expedit Shelving Unit from Ikea that is perfectly organized! You can see that she left some of the cubes open and purchased the drawers and cabinet doors for several of the spaces. It’s a clever way to display the items that you reach for all the time, while also hiding some of the others from view.
I’m seriously envying how wonderfully organized this is! Here is a close up of her shelving system:
Can you see how she’s labeled everything? The white boxes, also from Ikea, fit perfectly and corral the supplies she uses on a regular basis. You can get a more detailed description of her system from her YouTube Video where she gives you a complete tour and explanation of all the details! You won’t want to miss it!
Finally, I love how she’s used these Fintorp Flatware caddies from Ikea to store tools and supplies. Again, they add a decorative, yet functional element to her room. They can also be taken down and carried to your work table when you need to use them!
I really love how Laurel has created a clean, organized space with a subtle color palette. The bright pops of color come from her craft projects and supplies. The room feels so complete and pulled together. She shares a lot of great little tips and suggestions. I love this space! It must be so relaxing to create in a space this pretty and organized!
