Welcome to Week 2 of our “Show Us Your Happy Place” promotion!

Now for a great product review by Suzanne!

Hello, crafty friends! This is Suzanne from Scrapbooking Sue, here today with a product review from Organize More. I had the pleasure of trying out the 12-cubby Ribbon Organizer from Organize More recently, and let me tell you, I was impressed! First of all, this is how the Ribbon Organizer came out of the box…

Ribbon Organizer 1

…fully assembled! Who wouldn’t love that? Not only was it ready to go out of the box, but it also had the hardware (sawtooth hangers) mounted on the back for wall mounting, and felt feet on the bottom to keep your desk/counter scratch-free. I love that the folks at Organize More have taken their product a step further and really prepared it for all of our needs.

Ribbon Organizer 2

I could not wait to get started filling the cubbies with ribbon, and soon found my very favorite feature of the Ribbon Organizer…. I did not have to thread my ribbon spools through any dowels! I hate having to take my entire ribbon system apart once a spool of ribbon has ended, just to take the empty spool off of the dowel. Well, with the Ribbon Organizer, that is not a problem! Each spool of ribbon sits comfortably on the shelf, and the only dowels present are the ones that hold your spools in place! When you need a spool of ribbon off the shelf, it is super easy to take it off and put in back in its place. And, just look at all of the different sizes of ribbon spools it holds.

In the picture above, I showed how the wooden dowel can be used for more than just keeping your spools from rolling off the shelf. If you like to unroll your ribbon in a controlled manner and have it at the ready at all times (no searching for the ribbon ends), then you can thread the end of the ribbon under the dowel and it will securely hold it in place for you!

Ribbon Organizer 3

Personally, I like to take each spool off of the shelf when I am using it, so I did not take the time to thread each ribbon end under the dowels… but it is always an option! This is a picture of my Ribbon Organizer fully stocked! Organize More also makes Ribbon Organizers in smaller (6 cubbies) and larger (20 cubbies) sizes to meet your needs. Plus, you could always stack the organizers side-by-side, on top of one another, or mount on the wall to save desk space.

I really love this product! It keeps my ribbon neat and organized, and very easily accessible. And best of all, I ditched the dowel! You can find out more about this Ribbon Organizer and other products at the Organize More website.

Now, since you’ve read the review by our fantastic Suzanne, you can link up YOUR happy place at the bottom of the post from now until Thursday afternoon (October 16). The winner for this week will receive an identical Ribbon Organizer of their very own from our friends at OrganizeMore!

Now for a great product review!

This is Cicily, the Pink Dalmatian Scrapper and I’m super excited to be kicking off this October with a review of the Silhouette Chalkboard vinyl! I’ve been wanting to get my hand on some, so this was perfect.

It works just like regular vinyl in your cutting machine. I chose to make labels for some of my storage boxes.

PicMonkey Collage

I measured my boxes (the Walmart plastic shoe-boxes for $1) and adjusted the size of the label to fit. I set the depth on my cutting blade to cut just the vinyl, not the backing. After the labels were cut, I removed all the excess vinyl around my labels so I could see what I was working with. I could never find anywhere that says you need to condition chalkboard vinyl, but I know for chalkboard paint you need to condition it. To condition you just take the side of your chalk and run it over the vinyl. Then wipe off. What I read was that your images can become permanent if you don’t condition the chaklboard. Again not sure if this is needed with vinyl, but I also got the “used” chalkboard look once I wiped them off. Next I took a chalkboard pen and inked a border around the labels to give them a little pizzazz.

A great tip I’ve come across was to sharpen your chalk! Just use a pencil sharpener and you have an easier tip to write with. Warning…can cause nails on a chalkboard chills!

I love how the chalkboard vinyl labels turned out. The chalkboard vinyl was extremely easy to use and can have so many uses. Now check out what CSI has in store this month!

Now, since you’ve read the review by the fabulous Cicily, you can link up YOUR happy place at the bottom of the post from now until Thursday afternoon (October 9, 2014). The winner for this week will receive a 12″ roll of CHALKBOARD vinyl from Silhouette America like the one that is being reviewed here today!

Something’s Coming…. Something BIG!

Hi friends! I am so soooooo excited to announce today the FUN things we have planned for CSI for the ENTIRE month of October! *squeak* it’s so thrilling!!! 🙂

We are launching a month long promotion called “Show Us Your Happy Place!” We want to see YOUR awesome craft rooms, art studios, photography spaces, sewing rooms, and MORE! Your room does not have to be a traditional “craft room” OR considered “magazine worthy” to enter any of the 4 week-long contests we are running this month, we are looking for REAL rooms that feature creative and unique storage ideas.

Happyplacegraphic

So, here’s how it works:

Every Monday in October one of our Contributors will review a FABULOUS craft storage related product they have received. At the bottom of the post will be an InLinkz button where you can link us to your blog and show us YOUR room. You will be able to add your space to InLinkz until Thursday at noon (Mountain Time Zone).

Then (beginning a week from this Friday) on Friday mornings in October, we will announce the weekly winner. They will WIN the same product reviewed by our Contributor Team on Monday of that same week. We will also feature their space on that post and what our favorite things were about their room!

So, on Monday, October 6, we will begin our first link party. If you haven’t ever posted about your space on your blog, NOW is the time to get that done! You will have 4 chances to enter your space to win a prize in October.

So, maybe you’re feeling sad because you don’t have a space to share? Or a blog to feature your room on? GUESS WHAT? There’s still opportunities for you to WIN PRIZES every Wednesday.

Yes, every Wednesday in October we will be featuring RANDOM DRAWING GIVEAWAYS as well!

We will actually do our FIRST random winner giveaway this FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3 to kick off this fun party month here at Craft Storage Ideas! The winner will be announced Monday, along with our first review and link up.

We are hoping, wishing, and have our fingers crossed that you will Show Us Your Happy Place in October! 🙂

Recipe Organization & Silhouette bundle deal

Hi friends! It’s Noelle today stopping in to show you my latest and greatest. This is not craft storage, but recipe storage which is almost as good, right? Besides, I got to get crafty MAKING this binder, so I think it counts. 😉

P1220371-imp

I used to have a recipe box. It was just not functional for me. It was too full and I’d end up having to take out all the cards just to flip through them. I think this will work a lot better for me, and I am storing it with my cookbooks.

I used this “Favorite Recipes” cut file to cut the vinyl on the cover and the spine of my notebook.

P1220372-imp

Inside I arranged the recipes in plastic pages with pockets. I like that I will be able to wipe them off if they get grease or sauce splattered on them. I used the same sections I’d had in my box, and made a divider for each section of recipes. I used the frame from the cut file above, and the sweetpea font for the words.
