Craft Storage: Unique Storage Solutions – Pallet Power

Craft Storage: Unique Storage Solutions – Pallet Power
Craft storage ideas using a readily available, and often FREE, supply!

Do you ever feel that you want to live simpler and use what’s already available?

Hello fellow craft storage enthusiasts!

Hazel here to share one of my favorite topics – re-purposing of old / unused / broken items.

Today it’s PALLET POWER!

I’ve been gathering ideas on my Pinterest board, Pallet Power, as my husband and I are thinking about investing in a country retreat.

We want everything to be self-sustainable and what better way to start out than using unwanted pallets, right?

Not all my ideas are for craft storage, but 99% could be easily adapted for storing your stash, whatever your craft, hobby or interest might be.

Let’s start with something everyone needs: a BED!!

Even if you live in a teeny, tiny apartment – pallets could be for you.

Just look at all this under-bed storage!

I think I could fit my whole craft stash in those crates!

Steph adds that they’re portable, making it easy to carry them to where you want to do your creating.

And now, something all craft rooms need – a TABLE.

I love this idea!

You can pull it down when needed and put it back when you need more space.

It’s perfect for weekend crafters who need/want space-conscious set-ups.

The photo above shows a gardening table, but with a bit of imagination and paint, this same idea could work in ANY area.

Add a thin piece of wood cut to the same size as the pallet and you have a nice, smooth work surface for crafting!

The table shown below is used in a kitchen but it would make the PERFECT craft table as well.

Note the space under the tabletop – perfect for a cutter!

This one has been ‘hearted’ by Steph – she’s in love!

Of course, her love of this one could have something to do with the wine rack on the side!

She points out that the side pockets could also be used for cutters and mats, as well as other large and sometimes difficult to store craft tools.

Of course, a bottle of wine close by isn’t all bad either. 😉

Do you share crafting space with your husband / household or kiddos?

Here is a pallet ROOM DIVIDER – perfect for a bit of crafting privacy and hiding of the creative clutter.

And the best part?

You can show off your creations by hanging them from the slats.

Got large sheets of specialty paper or lots of wood-mounted stamps, or fabrics that need to be stored flat?

This is a wonderful option for all of the above!

I think I could go on and on forever about good uses for old pallets!

BUT, I have things to do, people to meet, and places to go, so I’ll end with some bonus pallet inspiration, specifically for our gardening friends…

Note from Steph: I am not currently a gardener, but I’m a lover of succulents and I’d love to have one of these hanging on our back patio!

How about you – do you garden and are you interested in making one of these?

  1. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am about to commence squealing!! LOVELOVELOVE the Rolling Cart pallet creation, the bookcase is pretty cool and the work desk with the stairs and bench is out of this world amazing!!
I would love to make any/all of these but hubby has an aversion to pallets for some reason! He refuses to bring any of them home from work so I can create with them which makes no sense because they have 100s of pallets coming in each day. I think I am going to have to work on him some more so he WILL bring me some!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!

    1. Barb,

Maybe if you showed your hubby all the cool projects he’d be more willing to raid the pallet pile at work?

It might be worth a try!

      Steph

    2. Hi Barb,

I wonder if your hubby is concerned about the chemical treatments used on some pallets… Have a read over the following post http://www.1001pallets.com/pallet-safety (I had no idea there were differences in pallets until I started researching projects) and ask him to take a photo of the stamps used on his work pallets. If they’re safe to re-purpose – show him the article (or any pallet safety / treatments article).

      Hope this helps.

      Jen
