Craft Storage Ideas for Tools – An Idea, A Sale & A Giveaway!
Craft storage for tools – there are many options, but this is my fav!

Greetings Crafters!

We hope today’s post finds you enjoying your Summer days and staying cool.

Dang, why’s it so hot everywhere right now?!

Well, the upside is we can stay inside in the A/C and create, right?

My craft studio/office has been a hive of production for the last two weeks.

I’ve been creating the decor items for my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday celebration and it looked like a pink flower bomb went off in here!

Given that my studio/office colors are black and white with pops of red and Disney collectibles, this is most unusual.

It’s o.k. though ’cause I’ve had a blast creating again!

Craft Storage Ideas: Repurposing Household Items – Small Item Storage

Craft Storage Ideas: Repurposing Household Items – Small Item Storage
Craft storage doesn’t have to be pricey – look around the house for unused items!

Who’s up for an inexpensive and easy-to-find storage solution?

How about a simple solution for keeping items in drawers sorted and accessible?

We’ve got a “Now why didn’t I think of that?!” solution for you…

Ice cube trays!

Not only do their compartments have sloped sides, making it easy to retrieve tiny items (just place your finger on what you want and slide it up the side!), they’re also short in stature, meaning they’ll easily fit into shallow drawers (drawers that often go unused because nothing fits in them!).

Hi everyone, it’s Kim from Stamping Imperfection to share some fun ways to upcycle metal storage containers to use as craft storage.

I love giving new life to old items destined for the trash and I’ve noticed that this is a trait of all truly serious crafters!

We have a tendency to buy new crafting supplies and then figure out a craft storage solution for them before we even craft with them!

Why is it so satisfying to be able to take something from a thrift store or a garage sale and completely revamp it into something that not only has a useful purpose, but looks great?

Honestly, that is a crafting/DIY project unto itself!

Metal items can be a great addition to your craft room storage solutions.

You find them available everywhere and there are so many ways to change them up for just a few dollars.

They generally don’t require a ton of sanding and prep like a wooden item might.

Check out some of the clever ideas that I found to share with you for your craft storage…

Here is a tool box idea created by Virginia Fynes of fynesdesigns.com.

Tool boxes are great craft storage solutions.

You’ll see these at garage sales and thrift stores all the time and they are fantastic portable storage solutions that are sturdy!

Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose - Upcycled Metal Storage, Tool Box (image)
Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose – Upcycled Metal Storage, Tool Box

I love that we can see that Virginia only paid about three dollars for this tool box!

She transformed it for next to nothing with some metal spray paint and some gold vinyl dots – love this!

Virginia is using this for her Project Life storage.  Very clever!

I love that this is so portable – you can take this from your craft space to your kitchen table to a crop at a friend’s house.

Another easy way to transform a metal piece is to use Mod Podge like Sunush from Hometalk shows us with the metal cabinet below.

Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose - Upcycled Metal Storage, Metal Cabinet (image)
Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose – Upcycled Metal Storage, Metal Cabinet

This cabinet was covered with a double roll of wallpaper using Mod Podge.

How fabulous does this look?!

You can match any craft room decor with this idea for a few dollars in a few hours.

Imagine how much storage this cabinet would provide for you in your craft space.

Here’s another great upcycle!

This one looks like it takes a bit more artistic skill to create the incredible final result.

Those of us who might be less artistically inclined might create a similar effect using stencils or vinyl cut with a die-cutting machine.

Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose - Upcycled Metal Storage, Faux Finish Metal Cabinet (image)
Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose – Upcycled Metal Storage, Faux Finish Metal Cabinet

This beauty was created by Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl.

This is a thrift store find that was spray painted and given a faux zinc texture and adorned with chalkboard paint.

Rustoleum has several faux metal spray paints that create amazing metal pieces to add to your craft room.

This piece could provide great storage for your larger craft papers.

Another great little find transformed on a budget is this little tool chest from Katie at Little House of Four.

Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose - Upcycled Metal Storage, Metal Hardware Drawer Unit (image)
Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose – Upcycled Metal Storage, Metal Hardware Drawer Unit

This is a great little craft storage unit for embellishments, threads, scraps, small punches…you name it!

I love how simple this transformation is.

We all have that one amazing sheet of 12 x 12″ patterned paper that we had to have, but never wanted to cut up.

Why not use it for a project like this?

You can see that Katie added some labels to complete her project and to make it a really functional piece.

Simple, useful and budget friendly!

For my final share, I want to show you how great these metal items are even if you don’t do a single thing to them.

Here is an industrial looking craft room created by Larissa from Prodigal Pieces.

Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose - Upcycled Metal Storage, Industrial-Look Sewing Room (image)
Craft Storage: Re-Use, Recycle, Re-Purpose – Upcycled Metal Storage, Industrial-Look Sewing Room

I love the vintage industrial look that Larissa has achieved in her sewing space.

What does she store in those drawers?

Fabric!

Look below to see how she cleverly uses hanging files to hold her fabric stash.

I love this idea!

You can see exactly what you have without having piles of fabric on a shelf.  (My piles never stay neat.)

Whether you choose to leave the metal storage items as they are or you choose to use your craft skills to transform them into something new and fabulous, don’t pass these items by at garage sales, thrift stores and clearance bins.

They have unlimited possibilities!

Please leave a comment – let us know what great metal finds
you’ve transformed into useful craft storage!

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – Ink Pad Storage from OrganizeMore

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – Ink Pad Storage from OrganizeMore
Looking for storage solution ideas for ink pads? We’ve got some!

Good morning,

Jessica here with a storage product spotlight on ink pad storage from OrganizeMore!

OrganizeMore is a small family-owned business in Tennessee that provides hand-crafted and hand-painted storage units for crafters.

Currently, they have ink pad organizers, ribbon/washi tape organizers, pegboard wall units, punch/stamp storage, journaling card storage, marker storage, paper storage, paint storage and more.

And chances are, if you can dream it up, they can build it for you!

For today’s spotlight, I am going to focus on their ink pad storage units.

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight - Organize More - ProInk Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMore – ProInk Organizer

When I first started papercrafting I stuffed my (small) collection of ink pads into drawers in my craft desk.

I quickly realized that 1) the color I wanted would ALWAYS be on the bottom of a stack in the back of my drawer, and 2) I forgot what colors I had and would end up using the same limited palette…my early cards, lots of Peacock Feathers distress ink going on.  Ha!

When I finally decided to switch to an actual ink storage unit, I looked at several and ultimately settled on the OrganizeMore ProInk Organizer.

And I am SO thrilled that I found this product!

I started off with one of the ProInk Organizers which holds every ink pad size up to those the size of the Stampin’ Up pads.

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight - Organize More - ProInk Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMoreProInk Organizer

I purchased two of these units, but quickly filled them up and started looking at other options from OrganizeMore.

Around this time I was really getting interested in various techniques with Distress Ink Pads, Reinkers and Markers and I was looking for a unit that would hold all three.

OrganizeMore had units that would hold Stampin’ Up markers, reinkers and pads, but they didn’t yet have a Distress Ink option.

So I put in a request and, a few months later, the 48 Distress Ink/Marker/ReInk Style Organizer was added to the line-up!

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight - Organize More - 48 Distress Ink/Marker/ReInk Style Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMore – 48 Distress Ink/Marker/ReInk Style Organizer

I think this might be my most favorite unit just because it’s so pretty!

Here’s a closer look (below) at each cubby.

The dowels keep the re-inkers and ink pads from getting stuck too far back in each compartment – love that!

Craft Storage: Product Spotlight - Organize More - 48 Distress Ink/Marker/ReInk Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMore48 Distress Ink/Marker/ReInk Organizer

Now, I have to stop and admit that I’m a bit of an ink hoarder.

I LOVE the gorgeous colors and, with all of the companies continuing to put out such quality ink pads and colors, I kept needing more and more storage!

Next, I purchased a ProInk/ReInk Organizer (see below) which ended up working really well to store some of my extra ink pads, as well as the brand new Distress Ink colors that have been released this year.

Again, the dowels help to keep the re-inkers from getting lost in the back of the organizer.

And, this unit also fits Stampin’ Up pads.

Craft Storage: Product Highlight - Organize More - ProInk/ReInk Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMore – ProInk/ReInk Organizer

Finally, I totally ran out of room for storage units on my craft desk and, while all of the units can be wall-mounted, I didn’t want to take up wall space either.

So, a few months ago I contacted Mike at OrganizeMore about the possibility of creating an ink pad storage unit specifically for the cubbies of an Ikea Expedit/Kallax, and he was open to the idea!

In fact, so much so that he created this unit and I got a great reward – one for free when they were produced!

I have three of these new units now and I anticipate purchasing a fourth soon!

The dividers are a little different than OrganizeMore‘s traditional corrugated plastic inserts, but they work just as well and using these dividers allows customers to fit more ink pads into the unit (which is a total win in my book!).

Here’s a look at this style of organizer:

Craft Storage Product Spotlight: Organize More - Expedit/Kallax Ink Organizer (image)
Craft Storage: Product Spotlight – OrganizeMore – Expedit/Kallax Ink Organizer

While these units are slightly different than the other units sold by OrganizeMore, aesthetically these units still fit with the other units they sell, which is a big plus for my slightly OCD brain!

I have always chosen the white units with white inserts as they fit my craft room design best, but OrganizeMore offers nine different color options for the units so you can surely find something that will complement your craft space!

Organize More also offers daily deals where they discount one of their units by 15 percent.

And, as a special perk for our readers,
OrganizeMore has given us a discount code
good for 10% off your purchase,
good through July 25th!

The discount code is: CSI715.

I cannot say enough nice things about the products from OrganizeMore.

They’re classy, well-designed and perfect for corralling the craft products in your life!

I hope you’ll visit them and see if there’s anything that would work for your craft room.

Thanks so much for visiting and please stop by my blog, All The Sparkle, to say hi!

Have a great weekend,
Jessica

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-purpose & Re-use – Garage Sale Finds

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-purpose & Re-use – Garage Sale Finds
Check out three garage sale finds that are ideal for storing crafting supplies!

Hi!

It’s Amanda here!

I’m back to share with you some great storage ideas for your crafty space!

It’s summer and every weekend you see garage sale signs all over the place.

The saying goes that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

Well, there are hidden gems that you can frequently find at garage sales and I have three ideas
I’d like to share with you today.

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage (image)
Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage

This wooden toolbox is great for keeping brushes, paint and paint misters handy,
right on your work table.

And, if you need the space, it’s easy to move to another location – just grab
the big handle on top.

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage - Tool Box Paint Storage (image)
Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage – Tool Box Paint Storage

This would also work great to hold jars of your most frequently used tools like scissors,
pencils, a ruler, glue and more!

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage – Tool Box Tools Storage

Next up is a vintage metal tool box.

This is the kind of toolbox that you would expect to see in a home or a garage.

I just love the vintage look!

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage - Tool Box Jewelry Tools Storage (image)
Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage – Tool Box Jewelry Tools Storage

This keeps my jewelry-making tools corralled and in a handy spot right next to my beads.

If I want to work somewhere else in the house, it’s easy to close the lid and transport my tools wherever I need to go.

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage - Tool Box Jewelry Tools Storage (image)
Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage – Tool Box Jewelry Tools Storage

Now, if you’re looking for a great way to display some of your crafty goodness, look no further than a wooden DVD storage cabinet!

Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage - DVD Cabinet for Craft Project Display (image)
Craft Storage: Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Use: 3 Garage Sale Finds to Use for Crafting Storage – DVD Cabinet for Craft Project Display

This cabinet was originally designed to hang vertically, but I added some little angle brackets from the hardware store, along with some screws and anchors, and I have a shelf that fits perfectly above my book case and allows me to display some of my carefully crafted projects.

You could, of course, use this method to store just about anything on a shelf, all from something you can pick up at a garage sale for a few bucks.

So, when you’re out prowling around garage sales (and flea markets, yard sales and vintage fairs) keep an eye out for things that can be used as crafting supplies, tools and projects storage.

Shiny and new is nice, but when you’re on a budget, it’s nice to find storage solutions with character that work for your space.

I hope I’ve inspired you to think outside the box and re-purpose something that works great for you!

Thanks for stopping by and please come visit me at Krafting Kreations,

Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with ScrapRoom

Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with ScrapRoom
We’re sharing ideas for crafting on the go, starting with on-the-road scrapbooking!

Hello Crafters (and specifically Scrapbookers)!

After spending six weeks on the road and taking hundreds of photos, all of which I now have to upload, edit, tag, organize, print and scrapbook, I thought it was time for me to share a tool I’ll be using, one I think you’ll find super helpful!

Now just so we’re clear, this tool is great for everyday use, not just for crafting on the go.

That said, if traveling and taking photos is part of your Summer plans, and/or you download a lot of images from the internet and need to keep track of them, you’re likely to find this tool indispensable!

Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with Scraproom Software (image)
Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with Scraproom Software

The tool I’m sharing today is called ScrapRoom Software and not only is it super easy to use (thanks to its invention by a scrapbooker for scrapbookers), it’s on sale this weekend only!

And who doesn’t love a great sale, right?!

Today and tomorrow only,
ScrapRoom Software can be purchased
for just $69!!!

Not sure it’s for you?

Well, take a look and see what you think…

Let’s check out ScrapRoom!

Crafting on the Go with ScrapRoom
Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with ScrapRoom Software – your life. your design.

I first learned about ScrapRoom Software when I was doing research on solutions for managing my ever-growing collection of photos and the many printables I download (a.k.a. digital elements, like those created and sold by designers such as Ali Edwards and those now available from Becky Higgins for Project Life™).

Background
As a former high-tech industry professional for many, many years before taking over Craft Storage Ideas and PaperCrafter’s Corner, I used my fair share of graphics software packages.

But, that doesn’t mean I’m all that enamored with technology, or a tech guru – far from it!

Most of the time I learned just what I needed to learn to use each software package in order to do my job.

And, full confession time: I am easily frustrated by tech stuff!

Fast forward to now…
I have very little time to learn new software packages and I want tools that are intuitive – easy to use.

I don’t want a bunch of cumbersome and unnecessary features and I don’t want to re-learn where things are every time the software is updated!

And most importantly, I want the process of uploading, editing, tagging, organizing, finding and printing my photos, and scrapbooking them, to be fun and easy, NOT frustrating!!!

Who’s with me on this?!

Now, I’m aware of and have used (albeit marginally), several of the most popular options available for organizing and editing photos and digital elements, most of which promise that they are easy-to-use and make quick work of managing our digital assets (yeah, those hard-to-shake tech phrases are still in me!).

But, even as a former tech professional, I find myself overwhelmed with managing the thousands of photos I take a year, and the many items I download from the internet.

Editing and printing in these tools is still a major chore for me, which results in the majority of my photos never seeing the light of day (i.e., being added to the pages of a scrapbook or mini album or even a picture frame!).

And finding the photos and digital downloads I own? Argh!

Perhaps you can relate?

And, although creating layouts and other projects within a software package has never been a priority for me (o.k., I’ll admit that I have resisted it with all my being because it involved a computer and felt too much like work!), being able to do so would come in handy when I am traveling a lot.

How cool would it be to be able to share a few fun pages I created shortly after the memories were made, instead of many months (ok, even years!) later?

I’d LOVE that!

You too?

The search for the best solution…
So, I long searched for an easy-to-use, reasonably-priced solution that would enable me to just handle the tasks that are MOST important to me: quickly and easily upload, backup, edit, tag, find and print my photos; and, upload, organize, find, and use the digital elements I own and want to buy.

Oh, and offer a simple way to create layouts, if I decide to do so down the road.

Note that “find” showed up twice in my list of needs – finding what we own and have create is important!

I’ll bet you agree.

Well, finding such a solution seemed to be easier said than done…

…well, until recently!

Papercrafting with ScrapRoom - Save Time! (image)
Crafting on the Go: Scrapbooking with ScrapRoom SoftwareClick This Image to See How YOU Can Save Time!

The day I found out about ScrapRoom was like eating cotton candy for the first time – exciting!

Of course I had to find out more so I sent an email to the company. I hoped to hear that my simple software wishes had been granted.

I received an almost immediate response from Blayne*, the mastermind behind the concept of ScrapRoom Software, and soon we were chatting non-stop about its capabilities and why and how she had it built.

I was simply blown away by the amount of thought Blayne had put into what the product does and how easy it is to use.

Could it be that I’d finally found the holy grail of photo and digital elements management tools?

Well, you’ll soon see!

The Creation of ScrapRoom Software
As someone who worked in the studio photography business, Blayne knows first-hand what a nightmare it can be to manage thousands of images and data files. As someone who has dabbled in digi scrapping, she knows how quickly one can become overwhelmed with digital elements and the ins and outs of creating pages digitally. And, as a long-time “traditional” scrapper, she knows how many photos we need to manage, how frustrating it can be when we sit down to scrapbook and can’t find that perfect photo, and how intimidating it can be for a paper scrapper to create digitally.

Her background, and personal and professional experience, most definitely played a significant role in the creation of ScrapRoom Software.

Speaking with many, many scrapbookers about their organizing, editing and creating challenges, and learning what they wanted and needed, was the icing on the cake and enhanced her ability to deliver a first-class product for scrapbookers.

As I mentioned in a PCC tweet after watching one of Blayne’s latest videos, “I’m telling you lady, you have thought of everything! I can’t wait to share your tool…”

The key to ScrapRoom Software is that Blayne thought of everything papercrafters like us need and care about, she added in some really cool bells and whistles, and, most importantly, she (and her team) made it super easy to navigate and use.

And, she has created a tool that makes digi scrapping quick, easy and fun…if you choose to try it.

And that’s perhaps the best part – digi scrapping is just one (easy and awesome!) element of ScrapRoom Software!

Whether or not you ever try your hand at digi scrapping, I believe you’ll find ScrapRoom Software to be worthy of your hard-earned dollars (well, that is if you care about your memories and sharing them!).

And this is where you find out just how great this $69 deal is!

ScrapRoom Software normally sells for $129 and even the PCC member price of $89 can’t match this amazing price!

Check out the overview video below –
we bet you’ll soon be clicking the BUY button!

And for those of you who are wondering, neither CSI nor PCC are receiving ANY compensation for this post nor any commission on any sales generated by our sharing it with you.

Please see our full disclosure below**.

We just had to share this amazing tool with you because, well like I said, Blayne’s thought of everything!

And, most importantly, we want to help you (and ourselves!) get those photos off your mobile devices, memory cards and hard drives and into your scrapbooks and other papercrafted projects!

Oh, and we want you to have fun doing so!

O.K., ready to take a gander at what this amazing tool can do?

Blayne created an overview video to demonstrate ScrapRoom‘s capabilities –

**Full Disclosure:
*During our first in-person meeting, at CHA’s Summer Show in Las Vegas in 2013, Blayne and I chatted non-stop, like old friends who were just picking up where they’d left off since their last conversation. The thing is, we had never met before that day! Since that time we’ve become good long-distance friends (she’s in Atlanta and I’m in Austin) and we’ve had many a 2-3 hour conversation! I’m sure you’ll feel that way too if and when you meet her. 🙂
